How It All Began

In the mid-1990s, our founder Bill Whyte, a carpenter by trade, struggled with dry, cracked hands during the harsh New England winters. In search of relief, he combined beeswax and olive oil to create a soothing herbal balm. The balm worked wonders, prompting him to share it with friends and family. Thus began the journey that would eventually lead to Badger.

• Is the zinc oxide really clear or does it still cause whitening?
  Clear zinc oxide is less whitening and will blend into the skin as you rub it. Badger sunscreens use non-nano zinc oxide, so no nanoparticles are present.

• Can I use this sunscreen on babies or children?
  Yes, our Kid’s Sunscreen has a tangerine & vanilla scent, while our Baby Sunscreen features chamomile & calendula. Our unscented sunscreen is suitable for all ages.

• Is this sunscreen gluten-free and non-comedogenic?
  Yes, all Badger sunscreens are gluten-free, non-comedogenic, and hypoallergenic, making them ideal for sensitive skin.

• What are the ingredients?
  Our sunscreen contains just four ingredients: mineral zinc oxide, organic sunflower oil, organic beeswax, and vitamin E. The zinc oxide used is non-nano and does not penetrate the skin.

• What is the difference between the tin and tube sunscreens?
  Both have the same ingredients. Tinned sunscreens start thicker but become easier to apply once warmed up. SPF 50 offers slightly more zinc oxide than SPF 40, though both are unscented.
